IV Therapy FAQ
What is IV Therapy?
IV therapy means intravenous nutrition therapy. When you receive an IV therapy treatment, you get supplemental vitamins, minerals, and amino acids to help replenish you body. IV therapy allows for 100% nutrient absorption via the blood stream, while oral supplementation only allows an average of 20% absorption of the vitamins and minerals that we all need every day. This is a benefit of IV nutrient therapy.
Is IV Therapy safe?
Yes. All our vitamins and minerals are sourced through FDA approved 503B Compounding pharmacies. All IVs are administered by an experienced registered nurse and performed under the supervision of a medical director. Before a patient receives their IV treatment, their health history is carefully evaluated.
At Neighborhood Naturopathic, IVs are given in a controlled setting. Our IV treatments are made immediately before your receive them and can be individualized for your specific needs and benefit. We are not a cookie cutter IV service.
Will IV treatments hurt?
IV treatments do not hurt! There is a pinch when the catheter first goes in, but, after that it is extremely comfortable. Our nurses are highly skilled with years of ER, hospital, IV nutrition experience – you will be in good hands.
Unexpected side effects from IV treatments are rare. Occasionally, people may experience some discomfort, bruising, itching, inflammation, or redness at or around the site of injection. This could last from a few minutes to several days. However, severe allergic reactions are extremely rare.
How often can I get an IV?
Everyone is different. Our services are on a patient-to-patient basis. Some patients receive IVs 2-3 times a week, weekly, biweekly, and/or monthly. We customize the treatment plan that best suites you, and are happy to discuss your individual situation when determining a course of treatment. We want YOU to reap the benefits.
How long does the IV treatment take?
Depending on the treatment choice it can take anywhere from 30-120 minutes. We are in a controlled clinical setting, and can adjust the rate of infusion to the most comfortable and effective rate possible. We can give more concentrated doses to help with any aches, aliments, and other health concerns.
Do we accept Insurance?
We do not accept any private insurance or Medicare. However, our treatments tend to be less expensive than most co-pays. Often our clients turn in receipts to their insurance for reimbursement. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Healthcare Savings Accounts (HSA) are accepted. Please check with your individual insurance or FSA/HSA to ensure they will allow Neighborhood Naturopathic before treatment as we do not allow refunds if they choose not to reimburse. We can provide letters of medical necessity for established patients.
