To say this past month has been stressful may be the understatement of the year! It doesn’t make it any easier that we are unable to relieve that stress by going to the gym, going out to dinner with friends, or even by practicing some “retail therapy.” However, there is one thing you can do to help relieve that added stress while in the comfort of your own home; yoga.

Yoga has been shown to be beneficial to all ages including elementary, middle, and high school aged children! In one study performed at a school, yoga practice significantly improved student stress and resilience. In a different study of school age children, students reported significantly greater decrease in anger, depression, and fatigue after participating in yoga compared to PE.

Adults see significant benefit too! In a meta-analysis of 25 randomized control studies, evidence suggested that yoga practice leads to better regulation of the sympathetic nervous system and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, as well as a decrease in depressive and anxious symptoms in a range of populations.

For this month’s workout, I picked an anxiety and stress reducing yoga routine from the YouTube channel, “Yoga with Adrienne.” This channel also provides a plethora of additional yoga routines in case you enjoy this workout. Namaste my friends!
